4 Ways To Build A Healthier Lifestyle With Strive Fitness In Massachusetts

June 25, 2020

Everyone wants to be as healthy as possible, but many often don’t know where to start. At Strive Fitness in Wilmington, Massachusetts, we believe in your body’s potential to be stronger than ever, instilling confidence wherever you go and whatever you do.

Consider this your unofficial guide to a healthier lifestyle, led by our experts at Strive Fitness.

Balanced Diet

Everyone knows you can’t live entirely on French fries and ice cream, but a healthy lifestyle is about much more than what you don’t eat. Actually, what you do eat has a much more profound impact on how you feel every day.

Do you eat five servings of fruits and/or vegetables daily? What about nuts, whole grains, healthy fats, and omega-3 fatty acids? Are you skipping meals in a misguided attempt to limit calories, or are you regularly feeding your body what it needs?

Even if you’re avoiding excess in red and processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, trans fat, and sodium, what you don’t eat only goes so far—it’s really about what you do eat. If you fuel your body with what it needs, you’ll be better equipped to face each day, no matter what it brings.

Regular Exercise

Deep down, we all know we should exercise, but forming a routine takes discipline, consistency, and adherence to clear, achievable goals. That’s what we’re all about at Strive Fitness. Half an hour of exercise, 5 days a week, is recommended by health experts, and Strive Fitness offers various ways to do so.

As the only private, full-service, always-open fitness club in the area, we boast multiple exciting options for staying active. These include:

  • Yoga
  • Spin classes
  • StairMaster
  • Squat racks
  • Punching bags
  • Plate-loaded sleds
  • And more!

You can also fully customize your fitness plan by working with Dani Meyer or Anthony Luongo, our resident body coaches, to aim for particular goals in doable ways.

Healthy Weight

Everyone’s body is different, some stabilizing at heavier weights than others, but all bodies have a generally healthy weight range worth striving towards. A normal body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 24.9.

Both aforementioned points—diet and exercise—powerfully affect your weight. By combining the two, you can maintain your goal weight without engaging in unhealthy, restrictive diets or over-the-top, aggressive workouts. Our experts at Strive Fitness can help you determine which exercises are most useful for the type of weight you want to lose, especially if you elect to work with one of our experienced body coaches.

Limited Alcohol Intake

Last but not least, there’s the question of alcohol intake. Unlike smoking, alcohol can be part of a healthy lifestyle in moderation, but what qualifies as moderation?

Doctors say between 5 and 15 grams per day for women, and 5 to 30 grams per day for men, is recommended; this translates to 12 ounces of standard beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits. You can still have a drink with dinner or while out with friends. Moderation doesn’t mean elimination.
